Ice sintering: Dependence of sintering force on temperature, load, duration, and particle size

چکیده

We present experiments along with an approximate, semi-analytic, close-form solution to predict ice sintering force as a function of temperature, contact load, duration, and particle size during the primary stage sintering. The increases nearly linear increasing load but nonlinear both duration in form power law. exponent law for dependence is around value predicted by general theory. temperature also follows Arrhenius equation. At temperatures closer melting point, liquid bridge observed upon separation contacted particles. find that ratio ultimate tensile strength axial stress concentration factor tension important determining force, 1.1 MPa can best catch different conditions. activation energy 41.4KJ/mol, which close previously reported data. Also, our results suggest smaller particles are “stickier” than larger Moreover, formation particles, cavitation surface cracking be one sources variations measured force.

The effects of sintering temperature and duration on the flexural strength and grain size of zirconia

Objective: This study investigated the effect of different sintering temperatures and times on the flexural strength and grain size of zirconia. Material and methods: Zirconia specimens (In-Coris ZI, In-Coris TZI, 120 samples) were prepared in a partially sintered state. Subsequently, the specimens were randomly divided into three groups and sintered at different final sintering temperatures an...

Influence of sintering temperature and pressure on crystallite size and lattice defect structure in nanocrystalline SiC

Microstructure of sintered nanocrystalline SiC is studied by x-ray line profile analysis and transmission electron microscopy. The lattice defect structure and the crystallite size are determined as a function of pressure between 2 and 5.5 GPa for different sintering temperatures in the range from 1400 to 1800 °C. At a constant sintering temperature, the increase of pressure promotes crystallit...

The Role of Particle Size on the Laser Sintering of Iron Powder

The effects of powder particle size on the densification and microstructure of iron powder in the direct laser sintering process were investigated. Iron powders with particle sizes ranging from 10 to 200 m were used. It was found that the sintered density increases as the laser energy input is increased. There is, however, a saturation level at which higher density cannot be obtained even at ve...

Effect of sintering temperature on the superconducting properties of MgB2

In this study, as much as 10 and 15 wt.% nanosized silicon and carbon (Si+C) were reacted with (Mg+2B) at 650°C and 850°C, respectively, for 1 hour. The phase formation, surface morphology and superconducting properties of these samples were evaluated. The relative peak intensity as calculated from the XRD patterns indicates the formation of large Mg2Si volume fraction at low sintering temperat...

Low Temperature Sintering Additives for Silicon Nitride

This work deals with sintering additives for the low temperature pressureless sintering of Si3N4, via a transient liquid technique. Much attention has been given to the development of a sintering process using low-cost Si3N4 powder (Silzot HQ, Germany) as the starting material and employing sintering additives which are also both economically attractive and enable sintering at low temperatures....
